Fourth and final GO-BGC float Integrity is launched
At 2250 UTC (coordinated Universal Time) on May 9th, 2021, the twelfth float of the newly NSF funded GO-BGC Array program was launched over the side after CTD Station #70. Huge thanks to the support of the US-GOSHIP program and the researchers onboard the A22 Expedition.
Integrity (WMO #5906438) was named by the Institute for Educational Advancement in Pasadena, California. The reasoning for the name:
“The Institute for Educational Advancement has four tenets – Perseverance, Integrity, Creativity, and Passion. We wanted to name our float after one of our tenets and chose Integrity to represent the accuracy and dedication that we wish to bring to this project! IEA is not a school, but rather a nonprofit organization that runs enrichment programming. The programs using the float would be Academy and Spyglass (both afterschool programs; one eventually in-person and one online). “
Stephen Jalickee was the shipboard technician in charge of this launch and Integrity was illustrated by Caitlyn Webster!
