This float was adopted by Pacifica Christian High School in Santa Monica, CA and named Seawolves Explore. Seawolves is their school mascot, and the name represents the spirit of the seawolves.
Another float that was decorated during our long transit to Antarctica, Seawolves Explore boasts a beautiful rendition of the seawolves logo, done by CTD Watchstander Ruth Moorman.

The finished product!
This was the first float deployed at night on I08S, which requires another level of skill and safety. The ship has external lighting, so the deck is well lit as the crew complete the deployment. When you gaze outside of the warm glow of the deck lights, however, the darkness is complete. Once the float was successfully deployed, it was swallowed up quickly by the night.

We are excited to announce that we have added a new interactive map to the GO-BGC website that includes both SOCCOM and GO-BGC floats in one place! It is located directly below the GO-BGC interactive map on the website under Map Room > Float Locations & Data. You can see the location of Seawolves Explore in the map below, where you will find links to more information and data from the float.
The location of Seawolves Explore is shown on the joint GO-BGC/SOCCOM interactive map.
